GBHS Bamenda Gets New Look as Dreamland Connect Delivers Campus C Project Ahead of Schedule

Government Bilingual High School, GBHS Bamenda, has witnessed a major facelift following the completion and provisional reception of its rehabilitated Campus C.

The ceremony took place this Wednesday, September 2, 2026, on the school campus, marking a new chapter for one of Bamenda's largest government schools which for years struggled with dilapidated infrastructure and limited facilities.

The rehabilitation works were executed by Dreamland Connect under the Presidential Plan for the Reconstruction and Development, PPRD, of the North-West Region, with technical and financial support from the United Nations Development Programme, UNDP.

What stands out is the speed of execution. The project, which was initially scheduled for five months, was delivered in just two months and two weeks.

The scope of work included the complete paving of the school yard, construction of modern male and female toilets, a security post and a dining shed. Blocks A to G housing classrooms and administrative offices were also refurbished. Other works done include the construction of retaining walls, fencing of the campus, paved walkways and a new flag stand.

Speaking during the provisional reception ceremony, officials said the project reflects the "build back better" approach being promoted in the North-West and South-West Regions.

The rehabilitation is part of the UNDP Recovery Programme which seeks to restore essential infrastructure, strengthen social cohesion, revive local economies and create inclusive opportunities for women, youths and persons with disabilities in conflict-affected areas.

For students, teachers and parents of GBHS Bamenda, the project goes beyond new buildings. It restores dignity and provides a cleaner, safer and more conducive environment for teaching and learning at a time when education in the region has been severely disrupted.
