The Questor at the National Assembly and Member of Parliament for Ngoketunjia North Constituency, Hon. Njingum Musa, has called on Regional Councillors, Members of Parliament and Mayors in the North West Region to strengthen collaboration and unity in order to advance development efforts within the region.

He made the remarks during the 2025 Administrative Accounts Session of the North West Regional Executive Council (NWREC) in Bamenda, where he addressed councillors and members of the Regional Assembly.

Hon. Njingum Musa congratulated the Regional Executive Council for what he described as a commendable approach in the management of the Assembly’s budget and affairs.

According to him, the participatory manner in which councillors are involved in budget discussions and decision making reflects transparency and responsibility within the institution.

“I have observed that the management of the budget in this Regional Assembly is very good,” he said. “The councillors are involved, and that is important because those who use the budget must equally participate in shaping it.”

The parliamentarian encouraged councillors to remain committed to teamwork and institutional discipline, noting that the Regional Assembly holds an important place in the decentralization process.

“This Assembly has enormous potential, but the strength of the institution depends on how united its members are,” he stated.

Hon. Njingum Musa also stressed the need for stronger cooperation between Regional Councillors, Members of Parliament and Mayors, saying development can only be achieved when institutions work together.

“We must improve communication and coordination between regional councillors, parliamentarians and mayors,” he said. “When we work together in the field and in our communities, the population gains confidence in us.”

Speaking on development projects, he reminded councillors that the adoption of projects does not automatically guarantee immediate execution, as resources still have to be mobilized.

“A project is first a provision,” he explained. “It does not mean the money is already sitting somewhere waiting. We all have the responsibility to look for resources and ensure those projects become reality.”

He further cautioned against internal conflicts and public criticism capable of weakening institutions, urging members to resolve differences through dialogue and mutual respect.

“When you damage the image of the institution, you damage yourself as well,” he noted. “Criticism should be constructive and handled responsibly.”

The Questor praised the growing spirit of cooperation he has observed among councillors and political actors in the region and expressed hope that the momentum would continue.

“I am happy when I see councillors, MPs and mayors working together in the field,” he said. “That unity is what will move the North West Region forward.”

Hon. Njingum Musa equally disclosed plans for future seminars aimed at strengthening cooperation between elected officials and regional authorities in order to improve governance and project implementation across the region.

The 2025 Administrative Accounts Session of the North West Regional Assembly focused on governance, development planning, decentralization and strategies aimed at improving the living conditions of communities in the North West Region.
